Doris Pavlinac Obituary

Doris Pavlinac (nee Thielen) age 77, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

She is survived by her loving sister, Nancy (Tom) Robinson; children, Tammy (Wayne) Johnson, Mary (Louis) Kennedy and Joyce Pavlinac; grandchildren, Louis Kennedy, Billy (McKenzie) Johnson, Matthew (Lauren) Johnson, Jessica Pavlinac and Tori Pavlinac; her sweet great-granddaughter, Lainey Rae Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, dear friends and 10 grand-pups.

Preceded in death by her parents, Norbert & Dorothy (nee Hicks) Thielen; sisters, Linda (Fred) Loomis and Bonnie (Mike) O’Connor.

Doris was born on September 3, 1946 in East Chicago, IN and was raised in Hessville, Indiana, graduating from Morton High School in 1965.

She started her first job at Cousins Jewelers in Downtown Hammond. Doris had 3 daughters whom she raised on her own and obtained a job as a Lunch Lady for the School City of Hammond. With 32 years of service, she retired from her job that she loved so dearly. She always loved children and treated all the kids over the years as her own. Doris had 5 grandchildren she loved dearly (raising 2), a beautiful great-grandbaby and devoted her life to her family. Doris worked at Griffith High School for 2 years after she retired to keep busy.

Doris enjoyed her Dunkin Donut coffee to start her day. She sent cards to everyone for ALL the holidays and loved making latch hook rugs, completing word find puzzle books, eating a sweet treat of Necco candy and to pass the time she watched the Game Show Network.

Mostly she loved to watch her grandchildren play sports and was their biggest cheerleader on the sidelines.

Doris always put other peoples' needs before her own. She was always helping the sick, running errands, picking up kids and taking kids to where they needed to be. Doris would give you the shirt off her back and the last dime in her pocket if you needed it.

Doris was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched.
