Doris "Dorie" Eileen Dietz

Doris (Dorie) Eileen Dietz, age 94, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Dietz Smith and wonderful son-in-law, Eric Smith. She had 9 grandchildren (Daneille, Sabrina, Eileen, Larry, Stacey, Shannon, Michael, Shawn and Artie). Also 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Rita Dobrowski; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Earl Dietz; her sons, Arthur Dietz and Michael Dietz, her great granddaughter Cassie. Also, by her beautiful sisters, Jeannie, Kay, and Betsy. And lastly by her kitty companion Patsy. 

Dorie was born January 19, 1932, in East Chicago, IN, and was a 1950 Graduate of Hammond High School. She met the love of her life Earl while working at Inland Steel in the early 1950’s.

Dorie loved cooking, baking, traveling with family, and her Chicago Cubs! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend and will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral, Home 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home as well.

Internment to follow at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
