Edison Joseph Pabey, age 76, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025. Born on February 19, 1949, in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, Ed was a 1968 graduate of Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army for 21 years, retiring after a distinguished career. Following his military service, he dedicated 20 years to Greater Hammond Community Services before retiring.
On January 4, 1994, Ed married the love of his life, Sara Martinez. They shared 20 years of cherished marriage before Sara’s passing. Ed found joy in playing sports with his children, spending quality time with his family, and traveling the world. His greatest joy came from helping to raise his granddaughter from birth.
He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Ed will be deeply missed by his loving children, Sean (Roisin) Pabey, Deven (Alyssa) Pabey, Stephanie Martinez, and Shannon Pabey; his granddaughter, Nevaeh Chavez; eight siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Angel and Tomasita Madera; his beloved wife, Sara Pabey; and his brother, Edwin Arroyo.
