Edward D. Cox, 78, of Schererville, IN, died on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Indiana University Health North Hospital in Carmel, IN.
He was born on December 21, 1943, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of Edward and Annadell Reynolds Cox. He married Judith Mathews on January 21, 1967 in Portage, IN. She survives.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Cox of Schererville, IN. Four children; Richard (Amy) Cox of Crown Point, IN, Kenneth Cox of Crawfordsville, IN, Kimberly (Richard) Sikma of Demotte, IN, and Lisa (Robert) Victor of Crown Point, IN. One sister, Darlene (Henry) Newberry of Washington, MO. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Daniel (Lauren) Cox, Benjamin Cox, Caleb Cox, Bethany Cox, Jordan (Cameron) Sabotin, Stephanie (Steven) Cartagena, Nicholas (Danielle) Zurawski, Luke Sikma, Amanda (Jake) Parker, and Robert Victor. As well as seven great-grandchildren; Braydon and Bradley Cox, Brody, Jackson, and Chloe Cartagena, and Owen and Layla Zurawski. He is preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Annadell Cox, brothers; Donald Cox and Glen Cox, and nephew, James Edward Cox.
He worked for Ford Motor Company where he retired after 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on his Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, and dancing. But the thing he enjoyed the most was spending time with his beloved family who will all miss him dearly. After retirement from Ford Motor Company, he enjoyed having a booth at Uncle John’s Flea Market where he became best known as the Vacuum Man and where he had a lot of special friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm with a service at 4:30 pm.
