Ernesto “Ernie” Sierra, 57, of Gary, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Ernie will be deeply missed by his loving siblings—Ed (Debbie) Sierra, Elsa (Ken) Halsey, Maria (Dave) Hale, Pete Sierra, Leonarda (Ruben) Urbano, Jim (Renee) Sierra, and Reyes Sierra—as well as the many nieces and nephews he cherished so dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Angelina Sierra; his sisters, Viola and Blanca Sierra; and his brother, Henry.
Affectionately known as “The Boss” to his nieces and nephews, Ernie had a gift for bringing people together with his laughter, warmth, and playful spirit. He made those around him feel loved, leaving behind countless memories filled with joy. Whether playing golf, cheering on his favorite teams, or enjoying a good movie, Ernie lived with a lightheartedness that touched everyone who knew him.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 beginning at 5:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00pm with Rev. Charles W. Niblick officiating at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd), Highland, IN.
