Frances (Fran) DuPey

Frances (Fran) DuPey, 86, of Schererville, IN, retired Lake County Commissioner, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025. She is survived by her loving children: Veronica (Kevin) DuPey-Banik, and Frank E. DuPey. Cherished grandmother (GG) of Allen DuPey, Frank M., and Dawson DuPey, Ashley Foster, and London Foster, sisters Helen Sutton and Nikkilyn Foster, and special cousin Linda Gift.

Frances was born September 19, 1939 to Arnold and Margaret Gilbertson. She was a graduated of Lamoni High School. Frances loved playing volleyball in the Hammond Women's Volleyball League, and bowling, where she made many lifelong friends. She loved boating with Frank and was a member of the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club. 

Frances became the first Lake County Female Council woman and moved on to become the first Female Lake County Commissioner. Fran will be sadly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2025 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Catholic Cemeteries, St. John/St. Joseph in Hammond.
