Frank H. Courson peacefully passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia 'Patty' Courson (nee Tucker); his son, John S. (Lisa) Courson and stepson John; grandchildren, Ricky, John S. Jr. (Emily) and Sherrie (Charles Laney) and four great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Mayla Laney and Lincoln and Calvin Courson.
Also survived by 5 sisters, Mary Lou (late Ray) Schehl, Esther (late Sam) Graham, Nancy (late Richard) Peterson, Deanna (late Drew) O'Polka and Karen Hovis and brother, Richard (Sandy) Courson.
Frank was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews
He also leaves behind his loving sister-in-law, Cathy Soczyk along with nephews, Tom Harney, Casimir (Alanna) Soczyk and Bradley Soczyk; and niece, Tina Soczyk and her son "Jake the Snake".
Preceded in death by parents, John and Mildred; his beloved daughter, Laurena; siblings, Jackie McDaniel, Connie Chapin, Thanna Rummel, Larry Courson and George 'Tommy' Courson.
Frank was born April 20, 1935 in Franklin, PA and was a 1952 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. That same year, he enlisted in the US Air Force. He spent 20 years, 6 months and 9 days on active duty including several overseas remote assignments. After retiring from the Air Force, Frank worked as a civilian employee at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL as the water treatment plant team lead. He was one of the last employees, assisting in the closing of the base on October 1, 1993.
Frank also worked as a ground's keeper for Willow Pond Golf course for ten years.
In his spare time, Frank enjoyed watching NASCAR races, golf, animals, and of course bowling. He also enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Frank was a very loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather 'GG', uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but especially his fur babies, Sunshine and Moonshine.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating.
Frank will be laid to rest privately by the family at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
