Frank Gorczyca, age 71, of Saint John passed away May 29th after a fierce battle with lung disease. Frank was a graduate of Whiting High School in 1968. He went on to attend Purdue University before being drafted. Frank was a Field Radio Mechanic in the Vietnam War for 4 years. He later went on to work for Chicago Flame Harding as an electrician for many years.
Frank was a diehard Sox fan, and he also loved the Blackhawks and Bears. He was a big fan of the Rolling Stones. Frank also enjoyed riding his Harley and driving his GMC truck. His favorite hobby was woodworking and made amazing jewelry boxes and birdhouses for family and friends. He loved fishing and grilling for family on every holiday. You could always find him with either a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or Corona in hand.
But most important to Frank was his family – who absolutely adored him. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Gorczyca; children: Melanie (Kevin) and Frank (Charity); grandchildren: Madisyn, Mackenzee, Frankie, Kayla, Gunner, and Emily; sister: Agnes and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Sophie Gorczyca and sister Patricia Gorczyca.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 6, 2022 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd, Highland, IN 46322. The family will receive friends between 9-11:30 AM. Followed by burial at Memory Lane Cemetery.
