Fred Gibbs Obituary

Fred W. Gibbs, age 75, passed away Saturday April 18, 2026

He leaves behind a family that loved him dearly; his daughter and son-in-law Amy & Jim LaReau; grandchildren, Caleb, River, Leif, and Raegan; sister, Patricia Ridgley (Tom), brother, Tom Gibbs; nephew, Neil Gibbs; and niece, Emily Ridgely.

Fred will be forever remembered for his love of fishing, baseball, music, movies, and cars.  He was an incredible artist, especially talented at cartooning and painting. He was a fun, intelligent, and simple man at heart. He found his greatest peace sitting on the porch and watching the birds.

Fred worked at various places including StanRay, Magnatech, & Meade. When he retired, he was able to devote time to his passion, model trains, while helping at G & G Hobbies in Griffith.

Near the end, Fred expressed to his family that his only wish was to have his ashes spread “wherever they are”. His memory will be honored at his favorite fishing spot at Sunset Bay Resort, in Vegas, MN; and at the family cabin in Tennessee.
