Ray was born in Tulsa OK to Fred Charles Goodrich and Caroline Cliffie Hendrix June 28, 1935. He passed away at home on July 15, 2020.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 25, 2020 at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 W 150th St. East Chicago, IN, 46312 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at the church at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Catholic Cemeteries St. John/St Joe1547 167th St, Hammond, IN 46320.

On September 22, 1956 he married Charlotte Ann Getz at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Char and Ray made their residence in Highland since 1963.  Char passed away Sep 23, 2019.

To this union four children were born, Tom (Lyn) of Carlin NV, Dave (Jackie) of Hammond, Sue (Bob) Surowiec of Crown Point and Robert (Gertrud) of Friesen Germany.

In addition to his children, he is survived by grandchildren, Mellissa, Eric, Robert, Max, Katie and Riley as well as several great grandchildren, sister Paulene (late Don) Carter, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and wonderful neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Herbert (Helen) Goodrich and sisters Hazel (Rudy) Janes, Carol (Alex) Anderson and Cathy (George) Woosley.

Some of the many highlights in Ray's life include travels throughout the U.S. and Europe with Char. He especially loved the guided tours of Germany and Poland with his son Bob. Ray and Char also traveled to Florida, California and the Badlands among other locations in the US always meeting new friends along the way. Another highlight in their life was the celebration of 60 years of marriage to Char in 2016. A mass in their honor was held at St. Stanislaus in East Chicago with a reception afterwards. Ray and Char also received a Papal Blessing for this accomplishment.

Ray had many passions in life revolving around, first and foremost, his family and Catholic faith. He was a 1955 graduate East Chicago Washington High School. He retired from the 80" at Inland Steel in 1985.  He was a huge Cubs and Bears fan. He was an honorary co-mayor of the 42nd Place block along with Rich Walker.
