Frederick W. Johnson

Frederick W. Johnson age 87, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September, 3, 2023.

He is survived by son, Raymond Johnson; daughters, Catherine Peterson, Christine Freis and Constance; step-sons, Timothy Sirbas and Paul Sirbas; step-daughters, Kathleen Pewitt and Margaret Hayden and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Helen Johnson; wife, Patricia Johnson; son, Richard Johnson; step-sons, Michael Sirbas and Christopher Sirbas; step-daughter, Georgiana Forsythe and granddaughter, Sarah Sirbas.

Fred was born on April 4, 1936 in East Chicago, IN to the late William and Helen Johnson. He attended Taylor Elementary School and was a 1953 graduate of Lane Technical High School. Fred proudly served our country in the US Army. He was employed at National Biscuit Co., Supermarket Broadcasting Network, United States Gypsum Company and retired from US Steel Gary Works.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Road Highland, IN 46322 (one block south of Ridge Road). Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
