Frederick Jesse Loomis Jr., 69 of Baldwin, Michigan, formally of Griffith and Hammond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at his residence.  He is survived by his wife, Ruth Troupe; daughter, Anastasia "Stacy" (Raul) Santana; mother, Roberta (late Fred, Sr.) Loomis; eight siblings: Michael (Cathy) Loomis, Rose (Dale) Ray, Bobbie Ann (Bob) McKinney, Lu (late Rick) Gragido, Tom (Belinda) Loomis, Barb (Steve) Gonzalez, Nancy (Mike) Ranger, and John (Toni) Loomis; seven step-children: Kim (Dean) Brummet; Rick (Regana) Nordyke, Crystal Taylor, Floyd Butler, Melissa Lattimore, Bradley Butler, and Christopher (Skyler) Butler; several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Loomis, Sr.; sons: Frederick Loomis III and Jonathan Loomis, late wives Susan (nee Stone) Loomis, and Linda (nee Nordyke) Loomis, and brother-in-law, Rick Gragido.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at St. Mary Hildenbrandt Hall, 525 N Lafayette St, Griffith, IN 46319. 

Fred graduated from Griffith High School in 1970 and later retired from Inland Steel. He loved fishing, camping, wildlife and feeding birds. Fred also enjoyed participating in Civil-war reenactments, as well as reading and playing chess.  He will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love him.
