Garry A. Eriks

Garry A. Eriks, age 62, of Griffith, IN passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Garry was survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathy, his daughter Cadee and his little fur buddy Tracker. He has one sister Karen (Mike) Griffin, one brother Tim (Loretta) Eriks, and one Sister-In-Law Tricia (Steve) Carpenter. He is an uncle to Danielle (Eric) Shea, Ashley (Paul) Candell, Brandon (Jessica) Carpenter, Becca (David) Brady, and a great uncle to Lucas Brady – arriving in March 2022.    

Garry married Cathy in May 1983. They enjoyed going to their camper in Warsaw, IN where Garry loved to spend his time fishing.                  

Earlier in his life, Garry drove a semi-truck which he owned with his dad, and continued that career for over 20 years driving for Bills Produce.  He also enjoyed working on a farm, and was currently employed with Scheeringa Farms and Greenhouses. His passion for farming showed through his ability to make anything grow. He loved to drive tractors and prepare the fields for planting. Even in his final hours of life, he was worried about making sure the fields were being plowed. Garry was one of the hardest workers you could ever find, and was always there to help when anyone needed him.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Bertha Eriks, parents-in-law Donald and Charlotte Roach, and an infant brother.   

Friends and Family are invited to Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 to share memories and celebrate his life on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Faith Church Highland, where Garry was a member, on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Hope Cemetery.

As much as Garry loved flowers, it would mean more to him that donations be made to the family for his daughter Cadee’s future education and to help cover his medical expenses.
