When we thought nothing could be worse than a pandemic, we now know there is – losing someone during a pandemic. Today our dad, George Osy, decided he would have nothing further to do with it and God welcomed him home. He was the proud wearer of a Tim’s Landscaping windbreaker – no matter the weather; a SUBWAY ambassador, hosting the unofficial breakfast club for many years, giving away more food than was sold; a diehard hamburger (pickle and onion only, no condiments) and fries aficionado, boasting Schoops – Michigan City, tops every.single.time! The last few years found him working part-time as manager of the “Best 17 Weeks of the Year” which he enjoyed immensely. He was a simple man relishing lunches out, fish at the VFW, casino trips, Balmoral horseracing, and visits from just about anyone! All who came across him were his friend. Our friends were his friends and we thank you all.
He is survived by his nine children, four boys George, Jeff, Tim, Mark and five girls ALL named Sharon! For sake of formality though we are: George (Liz) Owczarzak, Jennifer (Larry) Szafasz, Jeff (Megan) Owczarzak, Alison (Bill) Fingar, Melanie (Dave) Sharp, Tim (Karen) Owczarzak, Mark Owczarzak, Monica (Fred) Rost, and Sharon (Kenny) Konopasek. His grandchildren, Mandy (Joey) Anderson and Kelly (Vince) Saulters; Kristen, Katie, and Brett Szafasz; Marlo, Chase, and Ingrid Owczarzak; Korinne (Jason) Blauw; Megan (Thierry) Lyles; Janelle and Olivia Owczarzak; and his sidekick, Kameron Konopasek; along with 9 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by our mom, Jeanette, who always held a special place within his heart.
Due to COVID-19, services will be private.
We will miss him dearly. Farewell dad, you had a great run!
