Gerald Russ Mooth, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Kami) Mooth, and Rob (Bryn) Mooth; grandchildren, Peyton Mooth, Samantha Mooth, and Gavin Mooth; sisters, Judith (John) Blickem, and Janis (Mark) Massey; nephews Sean (Melissa) Blickem, Michael Hnatusko; niece, Chris (Roy) Hnatusko-Janich.
Preceded in death by his lovely Bride Nancy.
Russ was born July 1, 1937, in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and went on to proudly serve in the US Army. On February 8, 1964, he married his forever love Nancy Hnatusko. The two Southsiders shared 59 years together, settling in Munster with their two boys. They were faithful members of Mission Bible Church since 1980. Russ retired from Ameritech after many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching his beloved White Sox and Bears. He and
Nancy traveled extensively, visiting many destinations throughout the US and Europe, though his favorite destination was Arizona to visit his grandchildren.
Russ had a sense of humor that lifted up everyone he came in contact with. He was a dear and faithful friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:30 at Hillside Funeral Home 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) in Highland, Indiana. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 11:30 at the funeral home.
Interment to follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Crown Point, IN.
