Geraldine Mares "Tita"

Geraldine Mares, age 65, a lifelong resident of Black Oak, IN passed away Saturday November 20, 2021. She is survived by her three daughters; Adele F. Mares, Jessica Mares- Stokes (Poncevenus) and Ofelia Lucille; her grandchildren; Mariah Yazmin Porras, Jerry Porras Jr. and Bria Annaliese Ortega; and her beloved great-granddaughter Annalisa Julianna Porras. She is preceded in death by her parents; Paulo E. Mares and Mary Lucille Reza-Mares; brother, Richard A. Mares, nephews, Juan Casiano and Jose Miguel Mares; and great-niece Jazmin Clanton. She is also survived by her siblings; Paul M. Mares (Vicki), Arlene Mares-Cuellar, Gilbert Mares, Frank Mares, Cynthia Mares-Sosa (Raul); sister in law Patricia Mares. Close cousins,Tom Magallanez (Luisa) and Janie Lopez- Jimenez; also many nieces, nephews and close friends who she loved very much. Geraldine was a cherished staple in the Black Oak and Lake Ridge School communities. She has worked within the Lake Ridge Schools since 1997 and was a proud resident of Black Oak her whole life. She showed every child that crossed her path genuine kindness and love. She showed this by passing out treats during holidays to every single student to make sure that every child felt special. Her kind gestures also extended to her co-workers in the form of handmade gifts that she would spend hours making. She never met a stranger and truly loved everyone. She has made an impact on countless people who she has crossed paths with over the years. Her presence will be sorely missed by everyone who knows her.  Services will be conducted by Pastors Edwin and Christina Torres of the Cross Church.

A celebration of Tita's life will be at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322, on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 7:30 pm.
