Gloria Jean Fekete

Gloria Jean Fekete, of Munster, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, just days before her 83rd birthday. She was born on September 7, 1942, in East Chicago, Indiana, to John and Mary Orban.

On September 26, 1970, Gloria married the love of her life, John Fekete. Together they built a marriage of 54 years filled with love, family, and laughter. Gloria is survived by her devoted husband; her children David Fekete, Michael Fekete (Gabby), and Julie Fekete; her beloved grandchildren Evan and Olive Fekete; her nephew Glen Gard; and nieces Laura Wanicki, Lois Gard-Kish, Dianne Mikrut, and Carolyn Orban. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Orban (Dorothy); and her sister, Mary Ann Gard (Bill).

A proud member of Highland High School’s first graduating class in 1960, Gloria began her career in media advertising with J. Walter Thompson, Edward H. Weiss & Company, and other Chicago agencies. In 1972, she was honored as Time Buyer of the Year by the Station Representatives Association of Chicago. After stepping away from advertising to raise her three children, Gloria later worked at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster and the School Town of Munster, where she retired in 2003.

Gloria found joy in her kitchen, where she shared her love through cooking and baking. She delighted in trying recipes from her treasured collection, and during the holiday season, her cookies and desserts became a cherished tradition for family, friends, and neighbors.

Above all, Gloria will be remembered as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, and a loyal aunt and friend. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 3:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN with a Funeral Service at 7:00 pm.
