Grace E. (Kuiper) Tatalovich

Grace E. (Kuiper) Tatalovich (96) of Gary, IN passed away while surrounded by her loving family on October 25, 2023.
 
Born December 3, 1926 in Highland, IN, Grace attended Illiana Christian High School. Grace was the fastest runner in school. She outran all of the boys, only to run right into the arms of George Tatalovich. Grace and George were married November 29, 1947. A dedicated and loving wife for their 66 years together, Grace and George are now reunited. 

Grace and George were blessed with: four children - George (Kathy), Don (Cindy), Diane (Tom), and Judy (Eric); 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents George and Rena Kuiper, five brothers, her husband George and great grandson Jimmy Cooper. 

A loving and caring homemaker, Grace could always be found in her kitchen or garden. When not cooking, caring for her children or gardens she worked at Save More Foods as a full-time cashier for 25 years. Her employers and regular customers became an extension to her family, and came to love our “Amazing Grace”.

Grace is remembered as a God loving, family focused, optimistic, happy and sweet person who loved all people. She was also active and adventurous. She loved to travel (especially to Hawaii) taking part in fishing and houseboat trips, camping, boating, bowling, house construction, and roller skating. On occasion she could even be found riding an ATV, Jetski or flying with her oldest son.

A celebration of Grace’s life will be held at Hillside Funeral Home (8941 Kleinman Avenue, Highland, IN 46322. 219-838-0800). 
    • Visitation - Thursday November 2, 2023 from 3:30 to 7:00 PM. 
    • Memorial Service (Hillside Funeral Home) at 10:00 AM Friday November 3, 2023 followed by burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. 

Grace loved bright, happy colors (pink & turquoise being her favorite), so feel free to join her family wearing colorful attire to honor her.
