Gregory W. Scott, age 60, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.
Greg was born in Aurora, Colorado, to Betty Jean Scott and Donald Scott, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Guerrero (Julian), and his son, Evan Scott (Rachel); his siblings, Mark Scott, Vicki Scott, and Jill Singleton; and his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Guerrero, Oliver Guerrero, Lyla Scott, and Luna Scott, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Greg was an avid lover of books and a dedicated employee at the Hammond Water Filtration Plant, where he took pride in his work. Young at heart, he was known for his playful spirit and his love of good-natured tricks on friends and family. In the hospital he liked to joke that the only doctor he would listen to is Dr. Pepper. He found comfort and joy in simple routines such as watching the news, reading history or medical texts, catching the latest episode of Fallout, and coming home to his beloved pets. He carried with him a quiet strength, a quirky sense of humor, and a deeply caring heart that shaped the lives of those who knew him.
Greg will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and the love he gave so freely.
A private celebration of life will be held for his immediate family.
Gregory W. Scott will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
