Gwendolyn Heath Morris, born on December 28, 1933, in Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and grace. The cherished daughter of Alice and George William Heath, Gwendolyn lived a vibrant life grounded in faith, family, and an enduring entrepreneurial spirit.
A graduate of Hyde Park High School, Gwendolyn married Lethell Morris in 1952. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, raising three sons: Ronald, Steven, and Jonathan. As partners in life and business, Gwendolyn and Lethell brought their shared vision to life through several ventures, including the House of Cards, a charming gift and card shop in Hyde Park. Known for her impeccable taste and heartfelt customer service, Gwendolyn had a special touch when it came to all things gifting and holiday-related.
After retiring from their entrepreneurial pursuits, she continued to share her enthusiasm for life through a new adventure—as a travel agent. She found joy in helping others explore the world, just as she loved to do herself.
Gwendolyn’s passions reached beyond business. She found community and joy as a longtime member of the Chansonettes, a singing group whose harmonies echoed the deep bonds and lasting friendships she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lethell; son, Steven; parents, Alice and George William Heath; and brother, Reginald Heath.
Gwendolyn’s legacy lives on through her sons Ronald and Jonathan; grandchildren Christopher (Tawanna), Gloria (Tito), Jason (Delonie), Stephanie, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Vianey, Christopher Jr., Tazah, TJ, Jeremiah, and Josiah; sister-in-law Barbara Heath and her children Reginald Jr., Gregory, and Linda; niece Donna Laster; extended family members; and a chosen family of dear friends touched by her love, strength, and generosity.
Gwendolyn’s warmth, humor, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
