Hal Eugene Darnell

Hal Eugene Darnell, 58, of Crown Point, IN passed away on April 7th, 2024.

He was a quiet and loving man with a mind that often worked faster than his mouth could keep up. He loved to learn and tinker and build. Music was his love language and he was quick to share facts and slow to share opinions.

Hal was born on January 22, 1966 to Dianne and Harold Darnell in Hammond, Indiana. After he graduated from West Ottawa Public High School in Michigan in 1985 he went on to work in manufacturing.

In 1992, Hal met Teresa Emery at a company Christmas party. Hal and Teresa went on to raise 3 children, Shawn, Jami, and Chelsea.

Hal was preceded in death by his mother Dianne and father Harold. He is survived by his sister Amy Darnell, nephews Michael, Christopher, Bryan and niece Rachel, sister Kristy Darnell, nephew Alec, step-children Shawn (Charisse) Wolters and Jami (Mark) McMullen, daughter Chelsea (David Jr.) Umlor. Also by grandchildren Baillie, David, Elijah, Tanner, Noah, Layn, Olivia, Hudson, and Cailin and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322 on Sunday, April 21st, 2024 at 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Funeral Service will be Monday, April 22, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will also be a memorial service at the Zeeland community center in Michigan on April 28th, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Alcoholics Anonymous.
