Harold Richard Marlatt

Harold Richard Marlatt, age 86, passed away on Sunday, April 27th, 2025. He is survived by his three daughters, Dana (William) Cochran, Dawn (Dennis) O’Day, and Diana (David) Blauw; Grandchildren, Billy Cochran, Collin (Nicole) Hadley, Aubry Blauw, and Hailey Blauw; and Great-Grandchildren, Lilly Cochran, Liam Hadley, Emalyn Hadley, and Logan Hadley.

Preceded in death by wife, Sherian Marlatt; parents, Harold and Helen Marlatt; and siblings, Helen Stemkowski, Patricia Hendron, Gloria Beckman and William Marlatt.

Harold was born on January 23rd, 1939 in Hammond, Indiana and was a proud graduate of Hammond Technical Vocational High School in 1957. On May 2nd, 1959, he married the love of his life, Sherian Ulm, and together shared 58 years settling into Highland to raise their family where he was also an active and proud member of St. James the Leas Church. Harold retired from L-Fish furniture and continued to volunteer at St. James the Less Church until 2025.

Harold was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He enjoyed his time playing card games with his friends and family, attending CYO, coaching his daughter’s softball leagues, and spending time outdoors; whether it was fishing or enjoying the company of his cherished neighbors.

Harold was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and “Poppy” and was wholly loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, Indiana.

Interment will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 1:00pm at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, Indiana.
