Helen (Terme) Samocki

Helen Samocki (Terme), age 99, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

She is survived by her loving son, Louis (Cathy) Samocki; daughter-in-law, Denise (Howard) Samocki-Fritner; grandchildren, Lori Elibasich-Tokarski, Adam Tatalovich, Melissa Tatalovich, Stephen Samocki, Sean Samocki, Sarah (Kyle) Eschmann, Lindsey Samocki; great-grandchildren, Milan, Dylan, Lincoln, Adeline and Emberly; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends. 

She is preceded in death by parents, Louis and Mary Terme; husband, Louis Samocki; son, Paul Samocki; daughter, Deborah (Milan) Tatalovich; grandson, Ryan Samocki; brothers, Louie Terme, John Kristoff, Andy Kristoff; and sister, Elizabeth Adams. 

A beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. Helen was born May 29, 1926. A lifelong resident of Indiana Harbor in East Chicago, IN. A proud graduate, class of 1944 East Chicago Roosevelt High School. Retired after many years of service from East Chicago Public Library.

Helen loved spending time with her family. She had a gift for laughter, known for her legendary one liners. Her quick wit and sharp tongue always kept everyone on their toes. Beneath the sass was endless love and warmth. She was an incredible cook and baker, avid knitter, and loved to shop at Marshall Fields. She leaves behind a wonderful 99 year legacy. She will be loved and missed dearly by all.
