Helen S. White (nee Halik)

Helen S. White, 102, of Highland, IN passed away peacefully, at her home September 3, 2020. Born in Whiting, IN in 1917, Helen was the daughter of George Sr. and Julia Halik. She married her sweetheart Robert in 1937 and dedicated her life to her family from then on. She was the true matriarch of the White family and leaves behind a legacy full of her love. She is survived by her son, Robert D. White Jr., her daughters, Cheryl Baran (Robert) and Colleen Bartlett; her grandchildren, Christine White, Alyce White, Lori Finkel (Eric), Krissy Baran (Joe), Cathleen Brigden (Jonathan), William Bartlett (Nicole), Jason White (Nicole), and Justin White; her great-grandchildren, Melissa Reese (Cliff), Michelle Fleming (Carl), Melanie Torres (Michael), Riley, Mia, Aleczander, Kenna, Willow, Weston; and, finally her great-great-grandchildren, Alivia, Oliver, Charlotte, Jason and soon to be, Ben. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 68 years, Robert D. White Sr. (2006), her five siblings and their spouses, John (Ann), Mickey (Evelyn), Mary Moran (Cyril), Olga Maluga (John), George (Hedy), and multiple nieces and nephews.

Helen was a 1937 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School in Whiting. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church from 1959 to 2020. She also loved to dance.
The family would like to thank Victoria Finch from Community Home Health and Dr. James Walsh for their dedicated care given to Helen in her final years. Private services will be held for family only. Helen will be laid in rest in St.John/St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, IN with her husband Robert at a date yet to be determined. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
