Hilda Eleanor Kikkert

Hilda Eleanor Kikkert, age 100, a former lifelong resident of Highland, IN passed away on Friday July 17, 2026. Hilda was born November 3, 1925, in Highland to the late Paul and Cornelia (DePorto) Kikkert.

Hilda graduated from Griffith High School in 1943. After high school, Hilda trained to become a skilled dental technician and eventually became the owner of Chapman Dental Lab in Hammond, Indiana.

Hilda was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church in Munster, IN and took pride in being an active member, especially in the church choir. She later became a member of New Life Christian Reformed Church in Highland.

Hilda had an affinity for animals, especially dogs. She provided a loving home to many fury friends over the decades. Hilda was an avid lover of music. She loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s Organization for many years. In her spare time, she also enjoyed traveling, playing scrabble, putting together puzzles, baking the best chocolate cake, and being a member of the Women’s Church Dartball League. Hilda lived a remarkable life and will forever be remembered for her candor and kindness.

Hilda is survived by her niece, Gale Gard; brother in-law Dale Gard; nephews Charlie (Judy) Burley and Greg (Deb) Kikkert; “niece,” Christine (Ron) Radowski, great-nephew Jason (Jaclyn) Kikkert; four great-nieces, Anastacia (Richard) Larkin, Katerina (James) Kikkert-Drewenski, Bridgette (Chuck) Pawelko, and Jade Burley.

Hilda is welcomed into everlasting life by her parents, Paul and Cornelia Kikkert; three sisters, Wilma Gard, Cora Kikkert, and Jeanette Burley; brother Paul Kikkert, and dear friend, June Jones.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center – 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN 46322. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, burial service to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery – 1881 Thornton-Lansing Rd, Lansing, IL 60438.
