James Frank Flanagin

James Frank Flanagin, age 87, of Highland, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. 

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Flanagin) Krull, Patrick; his son, William Flanagin, Sonia; grandchildren, Joshua, Iain, Nolen, William, Rollin, and Amelia, Bianca (Brandon) and Miklo; beloved dog Bosco; siblings, Tom (Maxine) Flanagin, and Jan (Gary) Stephens; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Gene (Casolin) Flanagin; his parents, Franklin and Helen (Kilian) Flanagin. 

Jim was born January 5, 1939, in Hammond, IN. He graduated from Thorton Fractional High School and served in the US Navy. At a young age, he started out in the family business, Flanagin Brothers, by driving trucks and running heavy equipment. He loved rehabbing classic vehicles. He traveled the country managing properties before re-settling in the area. He worked for Local 150 Operating Engineers for over 50 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching the Nascar races and going to the grandchildren’s sporting and school events with his wife Gene. He will be missed by many for the stories that he told. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm with Father Niblick officiating at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN 46322.

Burial services of cremated remains will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 9:00 am at Homewood Memorial Gardens.
