James L. Lundquist

James L. Lundquist, age 70 passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11th, 2025.

He is survived by his children, Jason (Christy) Lundquist, Kristin (Brian) Emslander, Erich (Erin) Geisler; his life partner, Radine Green; his grandchildren, Elijah, Remy, Brody and Goldie. His siblings, Laura (Michael) Cheek, Richard Lundquist, Patricia (John) Riaden; his niece Stephanie (Michael) Parks and their children, Riley, Matthew, Avery and Maya and his nephew, Ryan Morrison.

Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer (Margaret) Lundquist, Jean (Patrick) Williams; his brother, Dale Lundquist, his niece, Sara Cheek, his best friend, Alan Green and his canine friend, Bebe.

Jim, known by friends as "Hippy", was born December 8th, 1954, in Hammond, IN. He graduated from Griffith High School in 1973. Shortly thereafter, he began his career as a crane operator at Inland Steel, where he retired after many, many years. He married Melissa, the mother of their two children, Jason and Kristin.

He was a foodie who enjoyed golfing, playing pool, spending time with family (especially his grandchildren), vacationing, playing with the furbabies, and watching the Chicago Cubs with a beer.

Jim was a selfless and humble person who would always think of others before himself. Despite his recent battle with lung and brain cancer, he was still helping friends and family, even until his last day.

He will be deeply missed by all of those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the American Legion Post#66.
