James "Jim" Kane, age 76, of Schererville, IN, passed away Thursday May 19th, 2022. He is survived by two daughters: Candice Kane and Cindy (Dave) Hoekstra, Seven Grandchildren: Jade Wynecoop, Kayla Hoekstra, Anastasia Wynecoop, Jacob Hoekstra, Kaycie Hookstra, Erin Wynecoop, and Tyler Hoekstra, His sister Janet (Wayne) Cable, A Nephew, Eric (Jill) Cable, A Niece, Carrie (Eric) Messmer, And five great niece and Nephews, Declan Messmer, Anna Cable, Jack Messmer, Matthew Cable, and Cole Messmer. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Helen (Patterson) Kane and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Cody Hoekstra.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. He was a Veteran of Vietnam. He graduated with a BS degree in "Science in Management" and "Transportation" from St Joeseph's College in 1974. Jim was employed for Praxair and then GE until his retirement in 2011. He spoke highly of his friends from Hammond Tech High School and of his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremationi Center, 8941 Kleinman Ave, Highland, Indiana, 46322 on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 10am to 12 pm with the services to immediately follow at 12pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Memory Lane on route 30 in Crown Point, Indiana by a gravesite memorial following the funeral.
