James "Jim" S. Orban

James “Jim” S. Orban, age 74, of Highland, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, one day before his 75th birthday. Born on May 9, 1951, James was a lifelong resident of Highland Indiana. 

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Orban.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Dave Simanson) Orban; sisters, Susan Fernandez and Betty Orban; brother, David Orban; nephew, Eric Rico; nieces, Shellie (Ryan) King and Nerissa Dixon; great-nieces and great-nephews Joey, Emily, Haley (Chandler), Ronnie, Mikey, Anna, David, and Avery; and great-great-nephew Hayden. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

James worked for many years as a machinist and took pride in his work. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things in life — fishing, camping, spending time in nature, and sharing his extensive knowledge and love of music with those around him.

Above all else, James loved his family and friends. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his kind heart, his stories, and the many memories he created with the people he loved.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
