Janet E. Toth, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Robert Toth of 25 years.Loving mother to Lauren (Cody Hansen) Toth and Kristen (Joey Cinko) Toth. Cherished sister of Carol (Thomas) Alexander, Sandra (Richard) Litavec, Mary Jo Lewandowski, Thomas Mattes, Richard (Dawn) Mattes, James (Melissa) Mattes, John Mattes, and the late Steven Mattes and Robert Mattes. Dearest daughter of the late Lillian Mattes (Cwick) and late Richard Mattes. Lifelong family friend of Max Brose. Janet has many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Janet graduated from George Rogers Clark in Whiting, IN, class of 1983. She worked at Goldman Sachs for over 20 years. She enjoyed working part-time at the Hammond Visitor Center in the past few years.
Janet had a big heart for all her many dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. Leaving behind her beloved cat, Mikey, who brought her immense comfort and companionship for many years.
She enjoyed camping/traveling with her husband, kids and animals, snowmobiling in Wisconsin, watching Hallmark movies, basket weaving, sewing, watching the races at the Indy 500, spending time with her family, and tending to her home, garden, and plants. She was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and a loyal customer of QVC.
In her journey through life, she fought a long battle with cancer but always remained optimistic. She was a devout Catholic and long-time member of the St. James the Less church in Highland, IN.
Visitation will be at 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at Hillside Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322 (located one block south of Ridge Road). Following will be a Celebration of Life Service at 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Humane Indiana and the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
