Jeanne Rae Halls (née Carroll), of Angola, IN, formerly of Highland, IN, peacefully passed away at home on July 1, 2025 at the age of 91.
Born on December 31, 1933 in East Chicago, IN, Jeanne lived a life full of love, resilience, and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren L. Halls, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Jeanne is survived by her four children: Warren (Donna), Cindy (late Bob) Rataczak, Tim (Kelly), and Teresa (Peter) Mazur; by 12 grandchildren: Jeanne (Ron), January (Mike), Jason (Holly), Warren (Weslie), Rebekah (Ryan), T.J., Angela (David), Nicole (Adam), Natalie (Eric), Chris, Andrew (Melissa), and Raquel (Dylan); by 27 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Westin, Lucas, Leila, Ashleigh, Emilee, Jacob, Reagan, Kasey (Seth), Logan, Linda, Chloe, Hunter, Nash, Brady, Kiera, Justus, Lucas, Cameron, Aveline, Grant, Miriam, Elliot, Henry, Simon, Owen, Peter and 1 great-great grandchild, Joel.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Kay and Betsy and grandchildren, Brandon and Erin.
Known for her sharp wit and Irish sense of humor, Jeanne lived with fierce independence well into her later years, having never met a bag of gravel she could not heft. She kept her home in impeccable order with the famous morning pickup. This was a reflection of the pride she took in everything she did. She will be deeply missed by all who shared meals and card games, coffee and counsel, and laughter and tears at her dinner table at the Lake.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 5th, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN. Funeral services immediately following, Minister Randy Harrison officiating.
