Jeffrey (Jeff) Wisniewski Obituary

Jeffrey (Jeff) Wayne Wisniewski, born June 25th, 1950, age 70 of Evanston, IL and Highland, IN passed away on September 24th, 2020.
He was a loving husband to Mary Jo (Wilson) Wisniewski, devoted father of Adam and Kathy Wisniewski, and brother to Gail Chapman and Brad Wisniewski. Additionally, he was a warm-hearted uncle, neighbor, and great close friend to so many others throughout his life.
Jeff served in the US Army as Spec 4 Airborne and was Commander of his local Amvet's post in Evanston for many years.

He had a long life of rescuing animals, enjoying bird watching and was an overall general animal enthusiast. His hobbies included fishing, watch collecting, crafting wood projects, and an endless home projects list. Jeff was an avid fisherman and spent many Saturday and Sunday mornings at Evanston’s fishing Piers and Wilmette Harbor with his father and son. He loved sports and coached youth sports at Robert Crown and James Park where he helped shape the lives of dozens of youth.

Jeff was a staple in Evanston and was loved by his neighbors and friends for his acts of kindness such as mowing or snow-blowing their entire block’s lawn and sidewalks, to helping them with mechanical or woodworking tasks. He was a frequent speaker at the Evanston Civic Center and Neighborhood Watch meetings. He was honored by the Evanston Police Department and then mayor Lorraine H. Morton, with the “Community Partner Award” for his work in stopping a retail burglary ring that was Targeting Chicago-land BestBuy stores.

He attended Evanston Township High School and was last working in management for Best Buy. He had a previous career of working for Builder's Ready Mix, Skokie Park District, Evanston Lumber and Dempster Auto Rebuilders.

His family and close friends will celebrate his life at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd), Highland, IN 46322 on Sunday, October 18th from 10am to 1pm with reception luncheon following immediately after at Langel's Pizza, 2833 Highway Ave, Highland, IN 46322, from 1:30 pm to 5pm.
