Jennie (Ritsema) Schoon

Jennie (Ritsema) Schoon, age 100, passed away to be with her Lord on June 27, 1925.

She is survived by her loving children Ken (René) Schoon, Tom (Dianne) Schoon, Tim Schoon (late husband of Nancy Schoon).

Grandchildren: Janet Morris, Michael (Stacy) Schoon, Dan Schoon, David (Lisa) Schoon, Nicole (Jason) Smit, Mark (Amanda) Schoon, Sarah (Shawn) Sprouse, Nicholas (Claudia) Schoon, Matthew (Ashley) Schoon, and Andrew Schoon.

Great-grandchildren: Taylor Morris, Jordan and Conner Schoon, Noelle, Bethany, Miranda Schoon, Lainey and Bryson Schoon, Ari, Leo, Saya Smit, Andre Schoon, Isabelle and Lucas Schoon.

Great-great-grandchildren Sophia, Stella, and Sylvie Schoon.

Feline companion Oscar the cat!

Preceded in death by: husband Nicholas Schoon, sons Randall, Timothy, and Gerald Schoon, daughter-in-law Linda Schoon, and granddaughter Jennifer Schoon.

Jennie was born on August 17, 1924 in Munster, Indiana. She graduated 8th grade from Highland Christian School and then graduated from Public School in 1938. She was a longtime resident of Highland until the last eight years where she moved to Park Place in St. John, IN.

Jennie retired from Strack and VanTils with 20 years of service. She was a member of Faith Highland (formally 1st Christian Reformed). She enjoyed bible study with Park Place Minister Mark Prestriedge.

Jennie enjoyed spending time with her cat Oscar and playing bingo and dominoes with her dear friends.

Jennie was a devoted Christian and mother who we will never forget. Mom, you will truly be missed by all the lives you touched.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 with a Funeral Service at 1:30 pm. Burial at Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred to Highland Christian School.
