Jimina Chappell

Jimina Chappell was born in Chicago and grew up in the Robertsdale section of Hammond.  She graduated from Hammond Clark High School and attended business college prior to working at American Maze and Standard Oil in Whiting.  After raising her family, she returned to work at Ennis Realty serving as the office manager for 15 years.

Jimina is survived by three children, Dick (Kim) Chappell, Jeff (Ann) Chappell and Lori Beth (Ken) Lenz.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Lindsey (Joe) Patti of Texas, Ashley (Joe) Peres of Texas, Lauren (Jeff) Sandor of Crown Point, Erik Chappell of California, Doug Lenz of Minnesota, Kate Lenz of Indianapolis, Kristin Lenz of Florida and Jeff Lenz of Texas and five great grandchildren; Joey, Emily, Jace, Alaina and Nixen.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don and is survived by a brother-in-law, Norm Chappell, of DeMotte.

Jimina was a 75+ year member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Griffith chapter, and a member of the Lady Shriners Club in Michigan City.  She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Highland and a former member of the Crown Point Women’s Club.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman (one block south of Ridge Rd), Highland, IN  46322 on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn in Schererville at 12:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Highland or to the Michigan City Shriners Club.
