Joan Kerner Obituary
Joan Marie Kerner, 93, of Hammond, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday June 11, 2026. Survived by her loving family, daughter-in-law, Karen Kerner; sons, Dan (Connie) Kerner, Ken (Carol) Kerner, Ron Kerner, Doug Kerner, Dave (Cheryl) Kerner; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Fred Kerner, son Fred Kerner Jr. parents, brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Joan was born on July 12, 1932 in Joliet, Illinois and attended Hammond High School. She married Fred "Fritz" on July 11, 1953 and were married for 61 years. Together they raised a family of 6 boys in their loving home in Hammond where they also lived out the rest of their days. The greatest joy in their lives was their 12 grandkids.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd, 46322 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am with a Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Concordia Cemetery.
