Joan Kay (Welch) Kollar

Joan Kay Kollar (nee Welch), 84 of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully at Powers Health Community Hospital in Munster on Monday February 3, 2025.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Ruth) Sands, of Highland, IN., James Sands, and Kevin Kollar, both of Hammond. She is also survived by two brothers, Larry Welch and Neil (Dixie) Welch, of Demotte, IN., and two sisters, Beth (Peter) Volpe, of Hill City, SD and Pamela Holcomb, of Hammond. Joan has two grandchildren, Andrew Sands and Autumn Holcomb.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marjorie Welch.
Born in Iowa on May 27, 1940, Joan was employed at Calumet Flexicore Corporation in Hammond for over 30 years. Joan very much enjoyed crossword puzzles and, in earlier days, was extremely active in the Irving Little League, serving as coach, manager, board member, and corporation President for many years. Joan was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews and will be missed.
There will be a remembrance service on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.
