Joanna Jones Obituary
Joanna (Jopie) Jones, 86, of Munster, Indiana passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022. She is survived by her husband Donald, son Steven (Julie Triezenberg Jones) and daughter Theresa Jones. Grandchildren, Olivia Jones, Sophie Jones, lan Jones, Samantha Martin, Amanda Martin and Reymond Martin. Many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by beloved parents Jacob and Tryntje Groenewold, brother Gerrit Groenewold, sister-in-law Thea Groenewold Bakker.
Joanna was born in Groningen, the Netherlands. Her family and childhood in Holland were significantly impacted by World War II and its aftermath. She immigrated to America when she was 20 years old. At age 23, she became one of the first respiratory therapists in the United States and later formed the Inhalation Therapy Department at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana.
Joanna was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She was a member of Munster Christian Reformed Church for over 60 years.
The family is extremely grateful for the loving care granddaughter Amanda provided the last few years that Don and Joanna lived at home.
A private burial will be held on October 5th 2022. A celebration of her life will be hosted by the family at a later date.
