John Lynch Obituary

John Francis Lynch, 82, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 13, 1943, in Chicago to the late John F. Lynch and Margaret (Gray) Patrick. On June 29,1963 John married the love of his life, Beverly Alaimo. They were inseparable for more than 62 beautiful years of marriage.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly; his sons, John (Alice) Lynch and Joseph (Nicole) Lynch; grandchildren Samantha (Brett) Lynch, Sarah (Justin) Kaczmarski, Francesca (Justin) Thiele, Joseph Lynch, and Grace (Bryce) Drake; great-grandchildren Kaleb, Carter, Bradley, and Silvia; his beloved sister, Elizabeth Duffy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John grew up on the Southside of Chicago, IL, attended D S Wentworth Grade School and graduated from Wescott Vocation School in 1961. In 1962, he went on to work at International Harvester as a Machinist along with his father, eventually becoming a Union Shop Steward for the International Association of Machinists. He then went on to work as a salesman for Royal Chrysler, Allis Chalmers and Car O Liner Corp, eventually returning to his Machinist Craft working at G&W Electric and Kay Manufacturing.

John was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and the shooting sports. He was also a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed following his sons’ activities, always there for a football or baseball game, and teaching them about fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grand-children’s sports events.

John was very active in the Boy Scouts with his sons, eventually becoming the troop leader for Pack 240 at St. John Bosco School and received many awards for his dedication to his troop.

He was also a photo and video enthusiast; very rarely without his camera to try and capture every party, sport or family event if possible.

John was also an active member of the Munster Congregation of the United Church of God

John will be remembered for his dedication and loyalty to his family and friends, a hard-working blue-collar man with a warm smile and generous kind heart, his love and devotion to his wife, his pride for his children and grandchildren, his belief in God, and being a loyal honest trustworthy man.
