John Reffkin, 70, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at The William J. Riley Memorial Residence Hospice. He is survived by: his loving wife of 37 years Marcy Reffkin, daughter Andrea (Tony) Begala, sisters Deborah Reffkin Joppek, Lisa Reffkin Betustak brothers Thomas (Nancy Kuzma) and Joesph Reffkin as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be welcomed joyfully by those who preceeded him: Parents Joesph and Helen Reffkin, brother Mark Reffkin and sister Jeanette Reffkin.
John was beloved by all. He was the life of the party and generous to friends and family alike. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time at the beach and was a lifelong Cubs fan. But what John enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family and friends. Everything John did, he did well. He started his long career in the steel industry in 1970 as an employee at Inland Steel and continued on at various companies for 47 years before retiring as a supervisor. The last 10 years of his career was spent helping to both construct and operate a mill in Mobile, Alabama where he met and made many beloved friends. To know John was to love John. He was the best at all he did and always gave his all. There are no words to express how deeply he will be missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd. (one block south of Ridge Rd.) Highland, IN, 46322 from 4 PM to 8 PM. Private cremation to follow.
