Jon Franklyn Swanson

Jon Franklyn Swanson, age 64, of Griffith, IN passed away Friday, July 3, 2020.  He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debbie, son Timothy (Stephanie), daughter Megan (Nathaniel) Fentress, grandchildren Deyon, Harper, Logan, Luke, brother Tom (Debbie), sisters Connie (Jerry) Zeilinga, Lisa (Tony) Baranowski and Carole Swanson.  He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lillian, brother Ray, sister Bertranne and beloved son Ryan. 

Jon was born January 4, 1956 as the oldest of seven.  He was a kind and compassionate man, and when someone cried, he cried with them. Jon was an exceptional tennis player.  He enjoyed sharing this and other hobbies with his children and cherished the time he spent watching them grow up. His heart was filled with love for God, his parents, siblings and the family he created with Debbie.  Jon was the type of person who never met a stranger and took every chance he had to say how proud he was of his children. He had a generous spirit and would never hesitate to help someone in need.  Throughout his life, Jon loved traveling with his family and keeping in touch with all his relatives and friends. Due to his illness, Jon never had the chance to fully enjoy his grandchildren whom he would have loved and spoiled. Jon will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd. (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a short service with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating.
