Jose 'Joe' Miguel Saldana age 76, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Saldana; children, David (Stacy) Saldana and Timothy (Destiny) Saldana; grandchildren, Samuel Saldana and Scarlett Saldana; siblings, Zelma (Jim) Donelson, Cynthia (late Glover) Camp, Eduardo (Isabelle) Saldana and Aaron Saldana and numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by parents, Eduardo and Minerva 'Alice' Saldana and brother, Roland Saldana.
Joe was born on August 3, 1949, in Moore, TX. The family lived in Texas and later moved to Hammond, Indiana where Joe attended Hammond Tech High School. He went on to proudly serve our country in the US Army serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. After returning home from the service, on June 29,1974 he married the love of his life, Charlotte Pritchett and shared 51 amazing years together raising their two sons in Hammond, Indiana.
Joe became a member of State Street Baptist church where he became a deacon participating in outreach programs, teaching various classes, and leading many to Christ. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Chicago, IL with 35 years of service as a welder and forklift driver.
Joe was a people person and enjoyed many different activities including rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys. But most of all, he loved doing anything with his wife and family. Joe particularly loved celebrating the holidays with family.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be truly missed by those whose life he touched...If only for a moment.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 beginning at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN.
Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
