Joseph "Roy" Chiasson

Joseph Roy Chiasson “Roy”, age 95, of Munster, Indiana, sadly left us Friday, April 25, 2025 and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) and son-in-law Richard (Rick) Jureczko; their children, Asia, Luke, and Tessa; his son Gregory (Greg) and daughter-in-law Angela Chiasson; their children, Michael, Katherine (Katie) and John (Jack); and nephews Michael and Andrew Chiasson.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Christine and father Michael Chiasson, sister Zita and brothers J. Omer and Reggie Chiasson.

Roy was a great dad and grandfather to his family. He had a tremendous positive attitude, even in the face of great adversity, and always looked for the best in people. He retired after many years working at Inland Steel as a craneman. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, fitness, and dancing.

Roy was a skilled golfer, who made a hole in one on the 179-yard, 10th tee at Lake Hills Golf and Country Club. He was a regular at the Wicker Park scrambles and was a coveted team member well into his nineties.

For many years, Roy went every day to the Omni 41 / YMCA, where he was an active participant in a variety of fitness classes - not even breaking his hip during a step aerobics class could slow him down! He also took part in many social outings to baseball games and other sporting events, making innumerable friends in the process.

In the summers, he often attended Dancing in the Park at Grant Park in Chicago, where his dance card was full every time. He loved to be around people and enjoy life. He will be missed greatly.

To honor Roy’s memory, we are holding a Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. We invite you to attend and remember his wonderful life.
