Judith Kathryn (McDermott) Crider

Judith Kathryn (McDermott) Crider, 83, of Dyer, IN, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Judi leaves behind one son, John (Kristy) Crider; grandchildren, Kathryn Hart, Brent Crider, Brian (Christian) Crider, Jordan (Alyssa) Schoon, Micah (Mollie) Crider, and Seth (Savanah) Crider; great-grandchildren, Caylie Gettelfinger, Bryson Crider, Everly Crider, Sophie Schoon, Stella Schoon, Myla Crider, Emerson Crider, Everly Barham, Sylvie Schoon, and Owen Crider and sister, Barbara (Donald) Kline, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Crider (2017); daughter, Nancy Poston (2004); brother, Charles (late Rose) McDermott Jr. (2008); sister, Peg (late Charles) Patrick and parents, Charles (1980) and Kathryn (1973).

Judi graduated from Griffith High School in 1960. She worked as a secretary to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and Project Engineer at Combustion Engineering in East Chicago, IN. Later, she worked as an associate at Walmart in Schererville until 2016.

Judi was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Dyer, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and a wedding coordinator. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Griffith Chapter, since 1980, serving as Matron in 1986, 1991, and 2005. She was District Deputy in 1998, Past President of Emra Club, Past Grand Association member, Former Grand Representative of South Dakota (1992–1994), and Treasurer of the Griffith Chapter.

She was a believer in Christ, and is with her Lord.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd, Highland, IN with visitation at the funeral home from 9:00am until time of services.

Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
