Judith Lee (Saunders) Maglish

Judith Lee (Saunders) Maglish, age 81, of Griffith, IN passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.  She was born on August 1, 1940 in Gary, IN to Edward and Virginia (Shaltz) Saunders who both preceded her in death.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jim; children: Lori (Terry) Turco, Monica (Rob) Seren, Michelle (Dan) Lavin; grandchildren: Michael (Kayla) Turco, Christopher Konopasek, Angelo (Antionette) Turco, Collin (Lauren) Seren, Brenden Seren, Alaina Seren, Tyler Lavin and Kelsey Lavin; 2 great-grandchildren: Tatum and Brantley Turco.

Judy was preceded to Heaven by her parents, Edward and Virginia (Shaltz) Saunders and in-laws, Joseph and Edith (Brill) Maglish.

Judy worked for AT & T for 25 years as a business service representative. She retired in May of 1999. Judy loved spending time with her family, going to her cottage in Rockville, and boating.  She always looked forward to being with her girls and husband at the Covered Bridge Festival every Fall.  She enjoyed being at home relaxing in her screened in porch watching the deer. She was known to have a supply of Hershey bars at her house to pass out to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite past-time was shopping on QVC finding today’s special value.  She found great joy in spending time with her husband and her dogs. Judy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to join the family for a mass on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 10:00 am. at St. Mary Church, 525 N. Broad St., Griffith, IN, 46319.   Following the mass we will proceed to Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W. 73rd Ave. Merrillville IN, 46410, where a short prayer service will take place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
