Judith Ann Ross, age 76, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Ross; daughter, Lisa Marie Ross; sister, Sandra (late William) Wright; niece, Jennifer (Chris) Vlacancich; nephew, William “Bo” (Brianna) Wright; great-niece, Lily Vlacancich; aunt, Monnie (late Irvin) Jones; cousins Charles Lee (Judy) Jones and Darryl Ray (Julie) Jones, many dear friends, her canine buddies Fonzie and Elmo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wanda Jones.
Judith was born March 30, 1949, in East Chicago, IN, and was a 1967 graduate of Lake Central High School, a 1971 graduate of Franklin College, and earned her master’s degree in education from Purdue University. On June 10, 1972, she married the love of her life, Robert Ross, and together they shared 53 years, settling in Merrillville to raise their family, and later Highland, where she was a proud member of St. James the Less Catholic Church. Judith worked as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Lake Central School System in the 1970s and as a teacher at the Merri-Tots pre-school in Merrillville in the 1990s and early 2000s.
She enjoyed all things Elvis, fall trips to the Covered Bridge Festival with Robert, visiting Lisa in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Disney World adventures with Sandra, Jen, Chris, and Lily, outlet mall outings with Bo, weekly dates with her “Breakfast Buddies,” and spoiling Fonzie and Elmo.
Judith was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and great-aunt, and friend, and she will truly be missed by all the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block South of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, IN. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN.
