Kathleen "Kathy" Lunsford Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Burnadet Lunsford, a beloved florist and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. Born on April 7, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, Kathy lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

A graduate of Bloom Trails High School in Chicago Heights, Class of 1989, Kathy carried her education with pride and used it as a foundation for a life rich in creativity and service. She was widely known as one of the kindest and most caring individuals, someone who never met a stranger. Kathy’s love for her Lord Jesus was the cornerstone of her character, inspiring a deep compassion and a generous spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

Kathy’s career as a florist was more than a profession—it was an expression of her artistic nature and her love for creating beauty in the world. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality; she enjoyed decorating, crocheting, doing hair, and spending quality time with her beloved family. She especially looked forward to the joyful moments of getting ready to go out, always putting care into her appearance as a reflection of her joyful spirit.

Above all, Kathy cherished her roles as mother and wife. She found her proudest accomplishments in the love and unity of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert “Rob” Eugene Lunsford, and their four wonderful children: Hannah, Cole, Samantha, and Sara. She was a doting grandmother to Hunter and Hudson, who brought her immeasurable joy. Kathy’s love extended beyond her immediate family to her loyal dog, Athena, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.

Her family circle was further enriched by her mother, Kathleen (Wachter) Hilton, and her brothers Patrick (with wife Keara), Anthony, Gerry, and Corey (with wife Nahomi). Her sister Nicole Hilton, along with several nieces and nephews, also hold cherished memories of her unwavering warmth and kindness.

Kathy’s journey was shaped profoundly by her family ties. She mourned the loss of her father, Patrick Hilton, and her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Kathleen Lunsford, who preceded her in death. Their legacies live on through her and the family she so deeply loved.

Kathy Burnadet Lunsford’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and dedication. Her memory will dwell in the hearts of all who knew her, remembered as a woman who would do anything for anyone, whose kindness knew no bounds, and whose love for her family was a guiding light until the very end.
