Kay Marie Wagman, 82, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jennifer Meloy and Janine Mahala (Ken); five grandchildren, Sam Brown (Samantha), Ashley Meloy (Joel), Brianne Bova (Anthony), Kenneth Mahala (Catie), and Kalie Weaver (Aaron); five great-grandchildren, Camdyn and Brynlee (Brianne), Rowen and Caden (Kenneth), and Willow (Kalie); her sister, Sue Grubb; six nephews, Vincent and Aaron Grubb; James, Jereme, Jonathan and Joshua Wagman; and a niece, Melissa Jongkind, along with numerous friends, colleagues, and fellow church members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Alice Wagman; her brother James; brother-in-law Vern Grubb; nephew Lucas; and niece Carly Wagman.
A 1961 graduate of Highland High School, Kay devoted much of her life to the theatre, where she forged many cherished friendships, and she sang joyfully in her church choir. She worked at Security Federal for more than thirty years and retired in 2005 at the age of 62. After retiring from the bank, she served as church secretary at Immanuel United Church of Christ for a few years and remained a faithful lifelong member. Kay also worked part-time at Pleasant View Dairy up until her passing.
Kay loved scrapbooking, crafting, and playing games, but above all she treasured time spent with her family. She was a constant presence at every sideline, bench, and event — always the enthusiastic cheerleader for those she loved.
A loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Kay will be deeply missed by all whose lives she so kindly and faithfully touched.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 beginning at 5:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00pm with Rev. Merlyn Lawrence officiating at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN.
