Larry E. Smith

Larry E. Smith, age 57 passed away peacefully after his second courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his sons; Chris (Judy) Smith, Mike (Shawna) Smith and Justin (Hayley) Smith. Fiancée Debbie Goodale; ex-wife and dear devoted friend Connie (Arthur) Green. Grandchildren Brayden, Rylee, Bryton, Ella, Avery, Kyler, Ariyah, Maddy, Antonio, Aria, Uriah, Iyla and Eliza. Siblings Dwayne Smith and Angie Smith along with numerous extended family members.

Preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Peggy Smith.

Larry was born on August 10, 1968, in Gary, IN and was a proud lifelong resident of the Calumet Township area. After attending Calumet High School, he went on to work for Dyer Construction for several years and then opened L&L Construction with his father.
Consecutively he worked as an expert auto mechanic and tow truck operator, eventually moving on to own/operate CL&S Auto Sales and Service and A+ Roadside Assistance. If it had a motor, Larry could repair it.

Larry loved the outdoors. He would spend days at his parents’ riverside property camping and fishing. He loved animals and could tame wild racoons to eat from his hand. He could stay up for days while at the river, soaking in the sights and smells of nature.

He had an amazing sense of humor, and you never saw him without a coffee cup in hand. His smile would light up his eyes. He lived and loved deep and if you were a part of his inner circle, he was loyal to the end. His presence in all our lives will be terribly missed.

Larry's wishes were to be cremated with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
