Lavonne passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025.  She was born in Bellflower, California on August 12, 1968 to Andrew and Marguerite Balkema.

Lavonne is survived by her husband, Patrick Ganzel.  In addition, she is survived by her mother, Marguerite J Balkema and mother-in-law, Joan Ganzel.  Lavonne’s surviving siblings -  Beverly (Larry) Musch, Robert (Patty) Balkema, and Carlene (Howard) Jabaay.  Her in-laws - Terry (Sandy) Ganzel and Penny (Al) Cecconi.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom she dearly loved.  She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Balkema, father-in-law, Ernest Ganzel, in-laws - Michael (Dorie) Ganzel, and Dean Ganzel.

All are invited to a celebration of Lavonne’s life that will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, 11:00 am at Bethel Church, 13620 Wicker Ave., Cedar Lake, Indiana.  Family and friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:45 am.  The service will be followed by a lunch. 

Lavonne enjoyed being outside, gardening, and riding the motorcycle with Patrick.  She enjoyed making cards and sending them as an encouragement to others.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lavonne’s name to the Bethel Church – Awana Club – camp scholarships (13620 Wicker Ave., Cedar Lake, IN 46303) or the Humane Society Calumet Area (421 45th Ave., Munster, IN 46321).  Children and animals (dogs) brought special joy to Lavonne’s life.
