Leon A. Charbonneau Jr., (Sonny), (Charb), of Griffith, IN, 79, passed away Sunday June 14, 2020. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia, of Griffith, sons Edward (Dawn) of Naples, FL, and Gary (Vanessa) of Hammond, IN, daughter Karen, of Naples, FL, grandson Troy, granddaughters Lauren, Cierra, and Alexandria, great-granddaughters Kaylin and Mckenna, many nieces and nephews, sisters Mary Ellen Mayhew, of Michigan, and Midge Oswald, of Kentucky. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Leon A. Charbonneau Sr., and Erma E. Charbonneau, and sisters Jane Starkey and Margaret (Eileen) Walker.

Leon proudly served in the US Navy. He worked for Allis Chalmers as a machinist and as a Lake County IN Deputy Sheriff. Later, he did building maintenance at the Munster Med Inn.

Leon was a very proud man. He took pride in everything he did, especially keeping his lawn. In his younger days, he loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, and hunting Asparagus along the railroad tracks.

Because of Covid-19, plans for a celebration of his life are delayed until they can be made.
